Models. A journey through disciplines and cultures

A scientific outreach project that focuses on models as tools for research, learning, communication, and inclusion. Models are seen as metaphors for bridges that, in their various functions, create connections between different fields of knowledge.

Discover all the activities: the exhibition "Knowledge in 3 Dimensions", along with a series of seminars and a theatrical performance celebrating multiculturalism.

CERN: Science Beyond the Limits of Human Knowledge

Gian Francesco Giudice, one of the most prestigious international figures in theoretical elementary particle physics, gave an informative seminar in Padua titled: "CERN: Science Beyond the Limits of Human Knowledge".
The video in which he tells us about the fascination of the research carried out at CERN in Geneva is now available.

UPCOMING

The science festival in Padua returns with a programme addressed to the general public from September 26 to 28, 2025, and with a schedule dedicated to schools from November 10 to 21, 2025.
Don't miss the now-famous Escape rooms organized by our Department!

From July 7 to 10, 2025, the Workshop "StatPhys in Kigali" will take place in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. This is a satellite conference of the important StatPhys29.

"StatPhys in Kigali" is shaping up to be not only an important scientific event but also a bridge between cultures, an opportunity for growth for young African researchers, and a step forward in international scientific collaboration.

RESEARCH

DIGITAL TWINS FOR PERSONALIZED MEDICINE

A study from the University of Padua lays the foundation for a new generation of diagnostic and therapeutic tools that combine network science, computational biology, and digital medicine. The future of personalized medicine is taking on a new shape thanks to a transparent approach based on computational models that overcome the limitations of traditional artificial intelligence methodologies.

LINES OF LIGHT IN THE DEPTHS OF THE BRAIN

An international research team develops a new method to extract the "molecular fingerprint" of deep brain areas. A new experimental method that allows the identification of a molecular fingerprint of brain tissue in remote areas of the brain opens new avenues for studying the central nervous system.

Discover the 2024/2025 DFA Colloquia playlist

Exceptional speakers from national and international spheres discuss current developments in science through a series of seminars, open to students, researchers, professors, and science enthusiasts.

The topics covered are diverse, ranging from astrophysics to particle physics, from the structure of matter to quantum computing, from the history of physics to current issues related to climate change.

THE LATEST EVENTS

STARS ON EARTH

"Stars on Earth" is a DFA's inclusive outreach project that allows people to "touch the stars" while remaining on Earth.

Discover more about the project results, which were presented on March 19 at the Padua Planetarium.

TOYS? DFA

Six departments have promoted a collective reflection on the themes of gender equality and female dignity by hosting the interactive installation TOYS? by Anna Piratti.

The objective: to contribute to supporting an academic environment where awareness and responsibility are central values and to strengthen the role of the university institution as an agent of social change.

WORLD QUANTUM DAY

Every year, on April 14th, "World Quantum Day" is celebrated worldwide, an opportunity to bring quantum physics and its applications closer to the general public.

Coinciding with this day, the Quantum group of the Department of Physics and Astronomy has organized an event aimed at stimulating young people's curiosity and interest in the world of quantum computing, providing a dynamic and engaging educational experience.
